Curvy Girl Fashion - Red Jeans & Anchor Chambray

Happy Friday everyone!! Its finally starting to feel like spring here where I live and the temperature is climbing after a very long, cold Winter. Last weekend I hit up Old Navy and came across this gorgeous chambray shirt with an anchor print on it. Even though I already had a chambray shirt sitting in my closet, I brought it to the dressing room to try on anyway. I couldn't believe how comfortable and soft it felt...and it had an anchor print which is something I've been obsessed with lately so I brought it right to the check out (along with a few other items). As you can tell, I don't have much willpower when it comes to saying no to shopping :)

Today I wore it with my red denim skinny jeans, a long white tank top, and my navy blue Toms. After I got home from work, my husband and I went to the park to fly a kite. We actually had a lot of fun and it was some great quality husband and wife time together! And it was a great opportunity to get a shot of my outfit instead of a selfie in my long mirror!!

Here's a close up of the print...isnt it amazing?

And here's a shot of our kite flying today...so fun!

Curvy Girl Fashion - Leopard Print & Stripes

Today's outfit wasn't overly exciting. I kept it pretty low key and casual but I wanted to post it because of the top half combination. I saw a leopard print scarf paired with a black and white striped shirt on Pinterest and loved the concept! On my own I would never put this together - two bold prints in one outfit seemed like a fashion faux pas to me but its actually an amazing combo!

My shirt is from Forever 21+, jeans are just regular flared leg blue jeans from Bluenotes, the scarf is a cheapie from eBay (I paid like $5 with shipping for it), and I just wore some tan mid calf boots with my jeans down over them instead of tucked in. Accessories are my Guess watch and of course my new glasses! These were my 2nd (free) pair and it turns out people like them way more than my first pair!! My phone case is an anchor print case from Etsy!

Curvy Girl Fashion - Ankle Pants!!

I threw this outfit together last night as I was trying to fall asleep and thought I'd share it on my blog! I bought these ankle pants last week and instantly fell in love with them. They are extremely comfortable, trendy, and flattering (even on curvy girls). I love how they fall at the perfect spot to bring attention to your shoes (instead of covering them with flared pants). Best of all, I don't have to worry about any hemming (I'm 5'4 and really struggle with pant & dress lengths).

I got these specific pair at Reitmans (in the plus section) - they are "dress pants" material so they are something I can wear to work but they can easily pass for something casual as well (I wore them with a white top, denim jacket & leopard boat shoes last week when I went for a coffee with my friends). Today I just paired the pants with a cream lace detailing blouse from Forever 21+, and some red flats from Payless (I always like to throw colour in there somewhere even though I was going for the black and white outfit trend). I threw on my black owl necklace & black Guess watch for jewelry and I really like how it turned out! Reitmans have really been stepping up their game lately for trendy pieces...they are really starting to steer away from "old lady clothes" which is great because there's not many places for curvy girls to stop in this city!

If you don't have a pair of ankle pants, I highly recommend you run out and get a pair for yourself. I love these so much and I'm going back to get a coloured pair very soon!

Curvy Girl Fashion - Chambray, Leggings & Boots

This is a very popular look but I wanted to blog about it to show you that curvy girls can rock it too! I went home for a few days to visit my family during my Easter break and took this along with me for a cute but comfortable lounging around outfit. The leggings are from Eclipse (they are made for short people...29 1/2 inseam!!), the chambray shirt and long white tank (gotta cover that bum...leggings are not pants!) are from Forever 21+, and the boots are my Steve Madden riding boots. For jewelry I just wore some leopard print earrings from Forever 21 and my Guess watch. But my best accessory was Dusty!! This is my brother-in-law's puppy but I love him like he's my own (and I'm pretty sure he feels the same way by how excited he gets when I visit and all the love and affection he gives me). He's a full bred Golden Retriever who's just a little over 1 year old. He's still crazy but very sweet and beautiful! Not to mention very photogenic :)

I've done this outfit with a black maxi skirt, and with black skinny jeans - both look great! Its a common outfit for the Fall season but East Coast Canada Spring is quite chilly so its also a great Spring outfit too with some leopard print boat shoes or flats. If you wanted to wear this for summer, you could switch it up with some black Bermuda shorts and tan sandals or wedges. Every time I wear my chambray shirt I always throw in something leopard print for a little fun :)
