Matte Pink & Shiny Pink Leopard Print

I am a huge fan of the shiny & matte combination nail art. Its so sleek and wearable but still kind of funky! Last week I did matte pink nails and the closest shade of shiny pink I could find in my collection for leopard print on top. If I had my time back, I would have used the same nail polish on bottom and top but matte the base with a top coat (instead of using a matte nail polish) and used the nail polish normally for the print so it matches a little better. The pink I used for the leopard is a different shade under the light but I think it still looks cool. I got a lot of compliments on these nails and wore them today (along with my pink shirt) for Awareness Against Bullying day.
For the base I used LA Girl Matte Nail Polish in Pink and free handed the print with a dotting tool and OPI's "Pink Flaminco". The base is a little too neon for my liking but for $2 a bottle you can't really go wrong. Best of all, this manicure lasted me a week with zero chipping and only started to wear on the tips over the last couple of days so its really excellent quality (and that's without a top coat)!

Stay tuned for more matte & shiny combinations coming up very soon! This may be my 2012 nail trend - finally retiring the old crackle/shatter nail polishes.

Valentines Day Nails - Pink & Purple Leopard Print

I hope everyone had a lovely valentines day. As I've said before, I am not much of a fan of the occasion but I got spoiled anyway. My day started with some gorgeous hot pink roses & chocolates from my husband, tons of love and valentines from the children at my work, a chilly 5k run, and came home to my husband cooking us supper! I'm a lucky gal! :)

I just wanted to do a quick blog post on what nail art I wore for valentines day. They aren't exactly a valentines day design but I think pink and purple are popular colours for the occasion. I really how the colour combo turned out and I love that I can continue to wear them throughout the week. First I used 4 coats of OPI "Princesses Rule" as a base (it actually layers quite nicely and doesn't bubble up). Then I dotted randomly with OPI "Do You Lilac It" for the spots and finished around the spots with OPI "Black Onyx" with a dotting tool. I did one coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dust" for some sparkle and finished with a top coat.

This week is also teacher/staff appreciation so everyone at my workplace has 1 person they have to treat throughout the week. It could be anything from lunch to little presents to cleaning snow off their car - whatever we like! The co-worker who received my name has been leaving me nail products and they are some pretty amazing products that are not in my collection! One of them was a GOSH "Nail Glitter" - I've been thinking up some cool ideas so stay tuned for that.

Thanks for reading :)

Quick & Easy Valentine's Day Nails - XO

Lately I've been feeling very uninspired with nail art so I've just been getting good use out of my glitter nail polishes and trying different colours under them. For the last few days I've been wearing OPI "Koala Berry" under OPI "Rainbow Connection" and I got a lot of compliments on them! Unfortunately like with most glitter nail polishes, it started to chip off in chunks so I had to remove it and put something back on my nails fast. Since valentines day is right around the corner, I wanted to do something for the occasion but I only had about an hour before I went to bed so I didn't have much time.

So I painted my nails all over with OPI "Princesses Rule" (I had to use 4 coats to get that really shimmery pink like the bottle but it didn't bubble up and layered very nicely). Then with a nail art brush I used OPI "I'm not really a waitress" I put an "X" and "O" diagonal down my nail. I finished with China Glaze "Fairy Dust" to give it a little sparkle and then a top coat. For something so simple and only took half an hour, I thought it turned out pretty cute!

I'm not a big fan of valentines day and never really was. My husband and I will acknowledge it but we celebrate our love all year round and its always been that way! But doing my nails for whatever holiday or occasion is coming up is always fun :). I hope you like it!

Much Love (all year round),
xoxo (hehe)

Update & Photoshoot!

Hi everyone!

Sorry I've been MIA for the last two weeks but I haven't been doing much with my nails, work life has been busy and I've been running a lot. I'm in a great running club with my co workers and it keeps me very motivated. I finally reached my first goal of 5k and I feel amazing both mentally and physically (go me!!).

There isn't too much new - I finally got my hands on the new Urban Decay Naked 2 palette which I am in LOVE with. I will do a review on my blog in the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out for that.

Last weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to work with local photographer Mike Mahoney and get some experience in boudoir photoshoots. I did both makeup and hair on the models and it was so fun! Mike's photography is amazing and the ladies were gorgeous!! Please take a look at Mike's Facebook page for the photos taken this weekend (any photo that includes my makeup and hair will be tagged with my name):

Big should out to Mike for such a great opportunity and fun weekend. I had a blast working with you! :)

I am hoping to get more inspired for nail designs in the coming weeks...maybe even something for valentines day (I am not a fan of the holiday but I may do some nails). I am also thinking about blogging more about makeup - doing looks with the new Naked 2 palette, my favorite MAC eyeshadow combinations, and looks using quads you can buy at the drugstore. I have a lot of drugstore makeup that doesn't get used very much so it would be fun to give it some love :).

Stay tuned for some new and exciting things coming very soon!

Thanks for all your support so far this guys are truly amazing!

Much Love,
