Kings of Leon Nails

Music is one of the other loves of my life besides makeup, nails and of course, my husband. I actually taught myself how to play guitar when I was 15 but haven't played in a while due to my longer nails getting in the way. On weekends, I can be found going to local music shows and concerts. This year alone I'm going to see Hawksley Workman, Sam Roberts (my 4th time seeing him) and Tom Petty (yes, THE Tom Petty) so its a pretty large element of my life. I've also seen Silverchair (twice!), Neil Young, Feist, and Pearl Jam just to name a few! I am always listening to something whether it be home, in my car or wherever!

Anyway, one of my all time favorite bands is Kings of Leon. For me, they are one of those bands who's entire discography I can shuffle on iTunes and I won't skip a single song. I loved them from the moment my friend introduced me to them and they instantly hit my top 5 favorite bands. I haven't seen them live, yet...but hope to one day soon. In fact, I love them so much that I named my 1st car "Leon" (that's lame, I know but its true)!

I've had this design in my head for a while now but wanted to wait until I got my nail art brushes from eBay so I could do them properly. My brushes arrived in the mail last week and I couldn't wait to get started on some KoL inspired nails!

The cherries on my fingers are inspired from one of my Kings of Leon t-shirts and the KoL on my thumb is inspired by the drummer, Nathan Followill's famous kick drum.
I used OPI "Skull & Glossbones" as the base for the cherries, a red nail polish from Mary Kay for the cherries, and OPI "Jade is the new black" for the cherry stems. For my thumbs, I used China Glaze "Liquid Leather" and OPI "Skull & Glossbone for the "KoL".

I know its not perfect, but its original - I haven't seen anything like this online before so I'm quite proud of it. I certainly enjoyed creating it and will proudly sport these for the next week or so :)

Much Love,
April

  1. Love the band :) Definitely worth having a nail design made inspired by them.
